Laurel Fisher, MD

Dr. Fisher received a bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College, a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, and a medical degree from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia. She completed her internship, residency, and Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. Currently, Dr. Fisher is the Director of the Capsule Endoscopy Program and Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan Health System.

Dr. Fisher is involved in the training of fellows, residents, and medical students, and has pioneered the expansion of gastrointestinal services to satellite locations. Her clinical research interests are in small bowel diseases and geriatric education.

Dr. Fisher served on various national committees of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, including the Training Committee, Public Relations Committee, and the ICCE 2006 Consensus Panel. She is the author of numerous journal articles and has lectured throughout the United States. In addition, she has served as a manuscript and abstract reviewer for a number of scientific journals.
