Lauren Gerson, MD, MSc

Dr. Gerson received her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in Romance Languages. She received her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo where she also received a master’s degree in Health Research and Policy.

Dr. Gerson is Assistant Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she is also the Director of the Esophageal & Small Bowel Disorders Center.

Dr. Gerson's clinical expertise is in the diagnosis and management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), esophageal motility disorders, and obscure gastrointestinal bleeding using capsule endoscopy and double balloon enteroscopy. Her research interests include epidemiology and clinical trials in GERD and Barrett's esophagus; cost-effectiveness studies in the areas of Barrett's esophagus, obscure bleeding, and new technology; and quality of life assessment for patients with GERD and Barrett's esophagus.
