Suzanne Rose, MD, MSEd

Dr. Rose received a bachelor’s degree in Russian Language and Literature and a master’s degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha from Case Western University School of Medicine where she also did her internship and residency. Her gastroenterology (GI) fellowship, including the Chief Fellow year, was done at The Cleveland Clinic. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology.

Dr. Rose is Professor of Medical Education and Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She serves as Associate Deans for both Academic and Student Affairs and Continuing Medical Education. Previously she held positions at Cornell University Medical College as the Director of Motility and the Second Year Pathophysiology Course. She also was on faculty at the University of Pittsburgh where she ran the second year GI course. She was GI Fellowship Director at both Pittsburgh and Cornell. In her role in medical education, Dr. Rose served as Co-Chair of the Northeast Group on Educational Affairs of the Association of American Medical Colleges in 2004-2005. She has extensive experience in curriculum development and served as one of the leaders of the development of the new clinical curriculum at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Rose’s clinical interests are in pelvic floor dysfunction and GI disorders in women. Her practice is limited to patients with constipation, fecal incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction, and defecatory difficulty. She has served many leadership roles in the GI organizations and has been an active participant in the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Rose has presented at numerous medical meetings and is the author of a number of publications in medical education and in GI disorders. She has authored a GI textbook entitled: Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Pathophysiology.
